  30. I agree with your disagreement, but for different reasons. While the lesser
  31. bandwidth is certainly a concern, the main problem is - I'll say it again -
  32. dirt. An A/B comparison between straight signal vs. looping through the
  33. deck, using of different types of footage, will show this quite plainly.
  34. It's almost as if Sony deliberately crippled the UVW by designing a noisy
  35. circuit, just so they could have another product line. I'm sure the UVW
  36. transport itself is capable of much better.

  38. The bottom line is, of course, whether your clients are happy. If they're
  39. okay with UVW footage, keep using it! To hell with all naysayers. If two
  40. hand-wound electromagnets on a wooden drum, spun by a gerbil cage and
  41. recording on rusty steel tape works for you and your clients, that's fine
  42. too (I guess that would be a pre-Quad format, so good luck finding spare
  43. parts). At some level they're going to be happy. No one else has the right
  44. to judge you for that.
